Location: Remote (with regular travel to offices across the South and East of England)

Type: 6-Month Contract (Inside IR35)

Day Rate: £800–£1,200 per day

A leading UK technology business with revenues of £300m+, backed by a traditional mid-market private equity investor, is seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller. Operating in a complex, multi-entity environment with several office locations, the business is scaling rapidly and entering a period of financial transformation and operational consolidation.

Opportunity:

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will take full ownership of a geographically dispersed finance function comprising approximately 40 finance professionals. Your key mandate will be to deliver a timely and efficient audit, embed stronger financial controls, improve cash flow visibility, and drive structure and accountability across the team.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role requiring immediate leadership within a business facing the usual complexities of private equity ownership, tight timelines, evolving systems, and the need for precision and pace.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a 40+ person finance team across multiple UK sites, ensuring alignment, performance, and operational consistency
• Drive completion of the year-end audit within a tight timeline, significantly reducing historical delays
• Identify and implement process improvements across reporting, audit readiness, and financial operations
• Establish and enforce robust financial controls, particularly around cash flow management and intercompany reconciliation
• Restructure workflows and team responsibilities to improve clarity, efficiency, and communication across the finance function
• Support budgeting and forecasting cycles, laying the foundation for a more proactive and strategic finance roadmap
• Act as a key point of leadership and stability during a period of internal and external change

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with strong post-qualification experience
• Background in mid- to lower large-cap private equity environments or FTSE 250 businesses, ideally with complex group structures
• Proven track record of managing large, distributed finance teams
• Significant audit delivery experience, ideally working to compressed timelines with Big 4 or upper mid-tier auditors
• Strong command of cash flow, controls, and reporting in high-growth or evolving businesses
• Experience implementing or improving ERP systems (NetSuite preferred)
• A confident, pragmatic leader who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact
• Someone who is not deterred by the interim nature of the role and is motivated to drive lasting change
