Job Description
Location: Brett Martin Daylight Systems, Sanford Close, Aldermans Green Industrial Estate
To lead and manage a shift of up to 30 employees across all site operational activities, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality GRP products. The role is accountable for achieving output targets while upholding the highest standards of
product quality,
process compliance, and
customer satisfaction. The supervisor will champion continuous improvement, quality assurance, and adherence to safety and environmental standards.
About The Role
- Ensure daily production schedules are completed with a focus on meeting product specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee quality control of raw materials (resins, glass rovings, mats, additives), ensuring traceability and compliance with specifications.
- Prevent the release of non-conforming GRP sheets, using inspection and testing protocols to maintain product integrity.
- Maintain ISO 9001 and BMDS quality management system compliance, ensuring all operations meet internal and external audit requirements.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any quality issues or customer complaints originating from the GRP department.
- Monitor and improve first-time-right production rates, reducing rework, scrap, and excess material usage.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to develop and refine manufacturing processes that enhance product quality and consistency.
- Ensure all team members are trained in quality-critical procedures, including visual inspection, measurement techniques, and defect identification.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality documentation, including inspection records, skill matrices, and training logs.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement using quality tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Pareto analysis, SPC) to identify and eliminate sources of variation.
- Support the development and launch of new products by providing quality-focused production input and ensuring readiness for scale-up.
- Conduct regular quality-focused team briefings, sharing KPIs, lessons learned, and reinforcing quality expectations.
- Ensure all operators understand and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions related to quality.
Promote a clean, organized, and safe working environment through 5S and visual management, supporting both quality and efficiency.
