The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Head Cook to join us at our brand new service Fernside House, our rehabilitation service in Armely.
The shift pattern is on a two week rolling rota 37.5 one week/38 hours second week. Five days (9-5pm) one week / Four days (8-6pm) second week, to include every other weekend.
You’ll lead the kitchen, ensuring nutritious meals are delivered to meet the individual needs of our service users whilst also working within set budgets. You’ll oversee the compliance, and contribute to our supportive, recovery-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious, well-presented meals to suit individual dietary needs
- Lead and support a small kitchen team
- Manage stock, ordering, and kitchen budgets
- Maintain high hygiene and food safety standards
- Contribute to audits and service improvements
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience working in a busy kitchen
- Confident leading a team and managing kitchen operations
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and dietary needs
- NVQ Level 2 in Food Safety (or equivalent) and a valid Food Hygiene Certificate
- Well-organised with great communication and time management skills
- Ability to adapt meals to individual needs
Desirable:
- Experience in mental health or care settings
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
- First Aid Certificate
- Full UK driving licence
