About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of AI to join our consultancy team, working closely with a major client in the construction industry. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development and execution of an AI strategy and roadmap that will shape the future of data maturity, capability growth, and AI-driven delivery within a complex, dynamic sector.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping the client define, embed, and scale artificial intelligence initiatives to drive efficiency, improve decision-making, and unlock new commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define and deliver an AI roadmap aligned to the client’s business objectives, with a focus on data maturity and long-term scalability.

• Advisory & Consultancy: Act as the trusted AI advisor to senior stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into actionable business strategies.

• Capability Development: Assess the current data and AI landscape, identify capability gaps, and design solutions to build robust data pipelines, governance frameworks, and AI-driven applications.

• Innovation & Delivery: Oversee the design, prototyping, and implementation of AI solutions across business functions, ensuring measurable outcomes.

• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including data engineers, business analysts, and industry experts to ensure delivery of high-value AI initiatives.

• Thought Leadership: Champion AI adoption within the construction sector, keeping ahead of emerging trends and ensuring best practices are embedded.

• Governance & Compliance: Ensure ethical, compliant, and responsible AI practices are followed in line with industry regulations and standards.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a senior AI, Data Science, or Machine Learning leadership role, ideally within consultancy or large-scale transformation programmes.

• Strong understanding of AI strategy development, data maturity models, and enterprise AI adoption.

• Previous exposure to, or interest in, the construction, engineering, or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.

• Track record of delivering measurable outcomes through AI-driven projects.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at C-suite level.

• Expertise in AI/ML frameworks, data governance, and modern cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

• Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on leadership when required.
