Let Us Tell You a Bit About The Opportunity
As Head of Asset Based Lending, you will be responsible for defining and leading the strategic direction, development, and delivery of the Bank’s Asset Based Lending (ABL) proposition. This is a high-impact leadership role, critical to driving commercial growth, shaping the ABL product offering, and ensuring excellence across origination, underwriting, and portfolio management. You will operate as a senior leader within the business, engaging with key internal and external stakeholders, leading a high-performing team, and delivering tailored, value-led lending solutions to corporate and mid-market clients.
What will your day look like?
- Lead the strategic direction of the ABL business by defining and executing a clear roadmap aligned to the bank’s broader commercial finance goals, while continuously evolving the proposition and routes to market.
- Act as a senior market-facing representative for the bank’s ABL offering, building strong relationships with corporate clients, intermediaries, and internal stakeholders, and supporting key strategic transactions as needed.
- Drive commercial performance while managing risk by overseeing portfolio quality, ensuring alignment with credit appetite, and maintaining high standards of governance and risk management.
- Collaborate across the organisation with senior leaders in Credit, Legal, Operations, and Business Finance to ensure the seamless delivery of tailored ABL solutions.
- Influence and shape the bank’s ABL strategy by providing thought leadership on product design, pricing, and risk frameworks, based on data-driven insight and deep sector expertise.
- Represent the bank in the market by staying abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity, and by actively participating in external events to enhance the bank’s ABL profile and market intelligence.
What do we expect from you?
- Extensive leadership experience within Asset Based Lending, corporate finance, or structured lending, with a strong track record of operating at a senior level in a commercial lending environment.
- Deep technical expertise in ABL products, including receivables, inventory, plant & machinery, and property-backed lending, with a thorough understanding of how to structure and deliver complex deals.
- Proven success in driving portfolio growth, originating new business opportunities, and delivering outstanding client outcomes that support long-term relationships and business aspirations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at executive, board, and external partner levels.
- Sound understanding of credit risk, legal frameworks, and regulatory requirements within the UK lending market, paired with a strategic mindset and results-oriented approach.
What can you expect from us?
- A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers.
- A growing organisation that means there’s lots of opportunities to progress
- A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one.
- And of course, you will be rewarded competitively, with a good range of core benefits and bonus potential.
