As the Head of Business Development, you’ll lead the Business Development function responsible for the development of people, growth of the team, improving processes, and championing the better use of connected tools and systems. Working as part of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), you’ll further embed structured business development globally, helping to establish and champion our vision, enabling the company to achieve its growth targets.

Responsibilities
- Lead with purpose. Set, deliver and establish a business development strategy and ‘go-to-market culture’ that aligns to our business plan and supports our growth across key sectors including industrial, engineering, heritage and digital innovation.
- Build our customer journey. Take ownership of the customer journey through our business development pipeline encompassing lead generation, marketing and sales. Ensure our prospecting, nurture and wider marketing mix align with our buyers’ journey, with continuous improvements strategies in place to deliver our growth targets through profitable sales.
- Grow relationships. Build, develop and evolve strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs. Enhance our ability to connect Bloc’s capabilities with the real-world client challenges. Identify scalable opportunities and provide valuable ‘best practise’ insights to clients based on our evolving capabilities.
- Spot opportunities. Create growth strategies based on identifying new markets, sectors and services where Bloc can make a difference and work with the ELT to act on them. Lead aligned strategic new market penetration initiatives, maximising the ROI of global resources used.
- Build client base. Working with service leads and external networks to understand trends and identify opportunities for growth. Research, nurture and engage with the right opportunities to grow our client base, securing new business.
- Collaborate across teams. Integrate seamlessly with service delivery and leadership to ensure our commercial efforts are aligned and impactful.
- Team management. Lead, mentor, and grow the Business Development team aligned with company values.
- Performance Monitoring. Set SMART KPIs and regularly report on performance, and improvements undertaken.
- Brand representation. Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and building on our established brand.
Skills and Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior commercial / business development role, ideally within digital, creative or technology sectors.
- Multiple years of proven experience in business development roles.
- Strong strategic thinking and commercial acumen, with a track record of delivering growth.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Familiarity with CRM systems and data-informed decision-making.
- A collaborative spirit and a belief in doing business the right way.
- International sales and business development experience and ability to travel internationally if required
- Curiosity about emerging digital technology and how it can be applied.
- Strong industry network, with prior strategic selling experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
Nice to have
- 3-5 years of experience in a senior leadership or strategic business development position.
- Experience in immersive technologies, digital transformation, or data-led services.
- Understanding of the industrial and engineering sectors.
- Understanding how business development impacts delivery and resource planning.
- Knowledge of product commercialisation.
