Head of Communications

Exclusive opportunity for an experienced Head of Communications to lead corporate, customer and internal communications for a fast-growing organisation operating in a highly regulated, politically sensitive housing environment.

You will be responsible for shaping and delivering the communications strategy, safeguarding and enhancing organisational reputation, and positioning the business as a credible, authoritative voice in the housing sector. Acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders and investors, the role plays a critical part in issues management, stakeholder engagement and crisis response.

Central London based – 2 days in office, 3 from home.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the organisation’s external, internal and customer communications strategy in line with corporate and investor objectives
Position the organisation as a leading voice in the housing sector through proactive media, thought leadership and internal & external stakeholder engagement
Act as a senior spokesperson across trade and national media, and in engagement with government, regulators and sector partners

Lead reputational risk management, including issues preparedness and crisis communications

Develop and maintain a clear organisational point of view on major housing policy and regulatory developments

Build and strengthen senior leadership profiles across media, sector and stakeholder audiences

Own the delivery of all public-facing corporate communications, including annual reports, customer reports and regulatory publications

Set and oversee content strategy for digital channels, including website and social platforms

Lead regulator-required customer communications to ensure compliance with consumer standards

Work closely with customer-facing teams to improve engagement, clarity and satisfaction through effective communications

Shape and deliver internal communications that support culture, engagement and organisational alignment

Own messaging for all-company communications and leadership-led events

Lead and develop a high-performing communications team, setting clear objectives and accountability

Embed strong governance, risk and compliance standards across all communications activity

Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in a senior communications leadership role within a regulated, politically sensitive or high-profile environment
Strong background in real estate, housing, infrastructure or a closely related sector
Demonstrable experience developing sector engagement strategies and leading public affairs-adjacent communications programmes
Significant experience managing reputation, issues and crisis communications
Excellent writing and editorial capability across short-form and long-form communications
Ability to distil complex issues into clear, compelling messaging for senior internal and external audiences
Strong political and regulatory awareness at both local and national level
Personal credibility with senior stakeholders, including executives, investors, regulators and media
Proven ability to build and leverage influential networks to enhance organisational reputation
Experience leading small, high-impact teams in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments
Strong people leadership skills with a track record of motivating, developing and retaining talent

Confident operating in hybrid team and agency models

High levels of judgement, resilience and discretion in sensitive situations
