Role
Responsible for leading and developing a multi-disciplined team of Scada engineers, Data Base Engineers, cartographers and operational staff who are building and delivering the work programmes. The role is responsible for ensuring maximum productivity, effective planning of direct resources whilst integrating all concurrent activities to maximise outage value.
It will require the successful candidate to have some technical knowledge of Operational Technology in RTS
This role will focus on staffing coordination, employee engagement, leave and attendance tracking, performance support and general HR issue resolution. The Head of Resources + Work Planning will serve as the primary HR liaison for the Scada Engineers, ensuring smooth people operations and workforce planning.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop and maintain a robust and co-ordinated direct resource plan which integrates and prioritises the requirements of Customer Service, regulatory outputs, incentive mechanisms and operational requirements
Develop & maintain a competency matrix for all engineering staff
Identify resourcing issues across the team and make proposals to resolve them
Succession Planning
Responsible for coordinating recruitment & induction of engineering staff, including the coordination of IT requirements
Embrace and integrate asset stewardship values through effective delivery and associated data capture.
Lead and drive continual performance improvement to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of system performance targets, SLAs for Operational Support and Database and Cartography are met and ensure
Deliver resource plan outputs derived from financial, regulatory and business plan objectives whilst maximising return through incentive mechanisms, integrating and prioritising the requirements of customer service and the licences
Drive improvements in and accurately report on direct resource performance outputs:
Liaise with Customer Service to request support for planned and project work
Compliance with IBE/SPEN/regulatory processes and procedures in line with business processes
Develop and promote an exemplary safety culture and ensures that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all design/planning activities.
Lead and manage teams to ensure each individual’s potential is fully developed and inspire a culture that ensures the delivery of business outputs.
What You’ll Bring
Proven experience of managing, motivating, coaching and developing teams, utilising appropriate HR frameworks within a unionised environment
Expert planning and programme management skills and ability to match manpower requirements to future business needs
Ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgement to determine options and solutions
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with capability to manage and influence challenging discussions and situations
Track record of effective stakeholder and customer service engagement and management.
Understanding key business drivers and the external commercial context in which SP is operating
Proven regulatory and commercial acumen with the ability to balance customer service, operational delivery and financial performance.

Minimum Criteria
- Planning/Professional qualification or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a comparable managerial and planning role
- Computer literacy
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- People Management

- Problem Solving and decision making.
- Strong analytical thinking to manage resource challenge.
- Proactive approach to addressing employee concerns and operations bottlenecks
- Good inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to form effective working relationships with other individuals, departments and businesses.
