We are looking to Strengthen our Information Technology/Data team with a Head of Data. You will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing our data strategy from the ground up. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology & Systems, you will have the rare opportunity to design, build, and own the data function in its entirety. This is a "blank slate" role where your expertise will help define how we collect, manage, and leverage data to drive insights, improve decision-making, and create value across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Strategy Development: Design and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with business goals and objectives. Maintain a business level roadmap of data improvements.
- Infrastructure Design: Build scalable and efficient data systems, including the architecture for data collection, storage, processing, and analysis.
- Process Implementation: Develop and embed robust data governance practices, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, functions and leadership, to identify data needs and opportunities aligned with continuous improvement/development principles.
- Analytics Leadership: Deliver actionable insights by designing analytics frameworks and building dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools.
- Team Building: As the function grows, recruit and develop a high-performing data team to support business objectives.
- Technology Selection: Evaluate and implement the most appropriate tools and technologies for the company’s data requirements.

About You
Skills and Experience Required
- Experience: Proven track record in a senior data role, ideally with experience setting up or scaling data functions in a similar environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of modern data tools and technologies, such as cloud platforms, data platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, and BI tools. Familiarity with data science or predictive analytics/ML/AI is an advantage.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change in organizations, with a collaborative and proactive approach.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results in a "greenfield" setting.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex data concepts into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the process industry or similar sectors is a plus but not essential.
- Education: Degree in a data-related subject (such as Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering) is preferable.
