This role sits within a growing mortgage team focused on asset deployment through mortgage origination. This includes activity via an in-house lender and long-term strategic partnerships across the market.
The Head of Distribution will play a critical role in driving the growth and expansion of the in-house mortgage lender, with a specific focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with external brokers and advisers.
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop and rapidly scale distribution partnerships across the mortgage sector, with an initial focus on equity release and expansion into the broader UK mortgage market (including financial advisers and strategic alliances).
- Oversee and manage performance of adviser relationships, including contract negotiation, KYC, internal governance, Consumer Duty compliance, and ongoing monitoring.
- Build internal cross-functional relationships to ensure effective involvement of key teams and individuals in strategic initiatives.
- Identify and cultivate new business opportunities to support lender growth across the UK market.
- Maintain awareness of external market conditions, including competitor pricing and distribution trends.
- Work closely with Compliance and Operations teams to manage external adviser and intermediary relationships effectively.
- Create and deliver pitch materials to potential distribution partners, and represent the lender at industry events.
- Promote the lender to external parties, including communication around brand strengths, ESG focus, company history, and innovation.
- Ensure standard contracts and terms of business are regularly updated to reflect market, legal, and internal developments.
Skills & Experience
- Strong project management capabilities
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills
- In-depth understanding of the UK mortgage market
- Confident presenter with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to clearly articulate competitive positioning and strategy
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including C-suite executives
Qualifications & Requirements
- Significant relevant experience, particularly in the UK equity release market
- Market-relevant qualifications are beneficial but not essential
- Certification under the FCA’s Certification Regime will be required
- Role will require a balance of office-based work and travel to meet distribution partners nationwide
