Head of Dynamics Business Central
Purpose of the role
To lead the development, delivery, and commercial success of our Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions across the organisation’s service portfolio. This role combines strategic solution definition, architecture leadership, presales engagement, support structure, and P&L ownership to ensure that our Dynamics Business Central offerings are robust, scalable, and aligned with both client needs and internal growth objectives. The Head of Dynamics Business Central Team will act as the primary interface between our commercial team, customers, internal teams, and technology partners.
Responsibilities:
Presales Engagement & High Level Solution Design
- Work closely with the sales team to understand client financial, operational, and supply chain requirements, translating them into tailored Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions.
- Prepare and deliver demonstrations, proposals, and high level scoping documents showcasing the capabilities and benefits of Business Central.
- Lead discovery workshops with clients to gather comprehensive functional and technical requirements, shaping solution strategies and roadmaps.
Solution Architecture & Scoping
- Support and lead the implementation team to design scalable, secure, and cost-effective Dynamics 365 Business Central architectures, incorporating integrations with other Microsoft Dynamics apps (e.g., Sales, Customer Service) and third-party systems where appropriate.
- Lead the implementation team to develop architecture diagrams, functional specifications, and phased implementation plans tailored to client environments and business goals.
- Estimate project scope, effort, budget, and resource requirements in coordination with the project management and finance teams to meet client budgets
Project Delivery
- Lead or oversee the successful implementation of Business Central solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Act as the voice of the client in board meetings and decide on go/no go decision points throughout implementation
- Oversee the transition into support through strong client engagement and acceptance into service
Client Relationship & Support
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout delivery and post-implementation, providing strategic guidance on optimising Business Central and adopting new functionality.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to consultants, developers, and support engineers, building deep internal expertise within the Business Central team.
- Engage proactively with client stakeholders to gather feedback, measure satisfaction, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement or additional services.
Collaboration & Internal Contributions
- Collaborate with other product, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure Business Central solutions integrate seamlessly with clients’ broader IT ecosystems and with other services offered by the organisation.
- Own the commercial performance (P&L) of the Dynamics Business Central portfolio, monitoring financial outcomes and driving continuous improvement of delivery efficiency and solution profitability.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of reusable assets, templates, and documentation to improve delivery consistency, reduce implementation timelines, and promote best practices across the team.
