Head of Engineering – Digital Wellbeing / Patient-Centric Technology

Location: London (Hybrid, 3 days/week in office)**

Salary: up to £150,000 per annum base salary + bonus + benefits

We are partnering with a forward-thinking company at the forefront of Digital Wellbeing and Patient-Centric Technology to help appoint a Head of Product Engineering to lead their UK engineering team during a significant phase of growth and transformation.

Following a series of strategic acquisitions, this is a critical moment to join and help shape a scalable, tech-first engineering organisation with the ambition to deliver market-leading digital healthcare solutions across the UK.

You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team to lead both the technical direction and cultural evolution of an engineering group (circa 50). As they move toward a product-tech operating model, you’ll be instrumental in implementing architectural changes, evolving team structure, and embedding a high-performing engineering culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on the delivery of scalable, off-the-shelf digital health products.
• Drive a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the engineering function.
• Architect and implement modern solutions, including the move from monolithic systems to microservices, and support the transition to AWS.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, and Commercial teams to align engineering efforts with business goals.
• Set performance standards, nurture talent, and champion a people-first engineering culture.
• Support engineering strategy alignment globally, particularly across UK and APAC operations.

About You:

• Extensive leadership experience in software engineering within product-led tech environments, ideally within MedTech, SaaS, or Digital Wellbeing sectors.
• Proven ability to scale and lead engineering teams of up to 50 engineers, particularly during periods of change, M&A, or cultural transformation.
• Strong technical grounding in Java, .Net, AWS, and microservices architecture.
• Experience migrating on-premise systems to the cloud.
• A passion for team development, inclusive leadership, and fostering high-trust engineering cultures.
• Sound knowledge of performance, scalability, and security best practices in complex systems.
