About The Role
As Head of Engineering & Maintenance, you will oversee all engineering functions and maintenance activities across the brewery. You will lead a team of technicians and engineers, manage capital projects, and collaborate closely with production, quality, and safety teams to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
Key Result Area / Principal Duties And Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance, engineering and facilities operations to ensure optimal performance of all equipment and infrastructure while maintaining compliance with legislation, including food safety, health and safety, and environmental standards
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6 direct and 18 indirect reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance
- Enforce strict adherence to site HSE and quality procedures and processes, driving a safety-first culture within the team.
- Oversee maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor management
- Develop and oversee the implementation of effective maintenance strategies, including PPM schedules and reactive maintenance plans, to optimise equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure Capital projects, including equipment upgrades, installations, and process improvements, are completed in line with the company's project management process, ensuring successful execution and minimal disruption to operations.
- Own the 5 year investment plan for the site
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering activities and present regular reports on performance, downtime and improvements to senior management
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and lead initiatives to enhance machine performance and reduce production costs

HEALTH & SAFETY
- Ensure that Health and Safety guidelines and fire regulations are strictly adhered to at all times

- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by acts or omissions at work
- GENERAL
- Be aware of and adhere to BrewDog policies and the Workplace Code at all times
- Take part in crew reviews throughout the year
- Cooperate with other BrewDog departments to achieve a great experience for our customers, applicants, colleagues, and contractors
- Attend training courses and complete online training modules as required to meet the requirements of the role
- Take responsibility for own personal development, seeking out opportunities to learn new skills
- Undertake any other duties as requested which are reasonably deemed to be within the scope of the role or necessary for the smooth running of the business

Qualifications & Specific Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or related field.
Experience
- Experience in a senior engineering and maintenance role, ideally within in an FMCG or food/beverage production environment
- Experience gained in an organization or environment with a high degree of complexity and pace
- Experience managing teams, budgets, and external contractors
KNOWLEDGE
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and process control systems
- Understanding of application Health & Safety legislation
- Understanding of food safety and food safety requirements in manufacturing
Skills
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems
- Highly developed communication skills
- Well developed leadership and coaching skills
