Head of Finance - Law Firm - c. £80k - C. London (Hybrid)
My client is firm of commercial real estate specialist lawyers based in Central London
The firm acts for a wide range of businesses – from well-known hospitality and leisure operators, retail brands and major construction companies to specialist banks and lending institutions.
The role
Working closely with the senior partner team, and liaising with every functional area, you will become a key player in the business, taking ownership of all financial processes and reporting. You will ensure day to day operations run smoothly; and instil rigor, drive improvements and provide dynamic information and insight for the business.
Expertise and experience
- Be a fully qualified accountant, either ACA, CIMA or ACCA. Ideally, would have worked in industry with post qualification and have had a financial reporting role. A strong technical accounting knowledge, grasp of numbers, analytical and communication skills is required, including Excel and modelling.
- Oversight of the company's accounts, leading the analysis and having responsibility for the review and completion of the company's monthly management accounts on a timely basis for Partner presentation.
- Overseeing end-to-end finance operations, including financial planning and analysis, monitoring cashflow, balance sheet reconciliations, looking to make improvements to systems and controls, as well as dealing with ad-hoc projects and requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate provision of payroll, credit control and accounts payable functions
- Supervise P&L calculations, cost analysis and the delivery of monthly management accounts
- Provide financial and commercial input on the merits and validity of new ideas, services, projects or partnerships
- Devise, monitor and promote internal policies and procedures to improve performance and efficiency and ensure compliance
- Work with the wider business to provide input and ideas to help improve processes, prioritise resources and develop our services to better meet the needs of our customers.
- Work with the Senior Leadership Directors to drive a great team culture and environment
- Managing an end-to-end audit process of current systems - while acting as the first point of contact for external auditors.
- Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices
- Responsible for payroll, VAT and ensure all statutory reporting obligations to Companies House and H M Revenue & Customs are fulfilled.
