WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We're on the hunt for a talented Head of Finance to join the business (our first ever internal Finance hire!)

Skills are important but equally important for us is attitude: we are looking for an ambitious team player who is actively seeking ownership across all aspects of finance within the business.

This is a critical role for the business, requiring someone with strong leadership skills, outstanding financial rigour, commercial acumen and excellent relationship management skills.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this multi-faceted role, you will be responsible for running the finance team, managing all key financial processes, preparation and sharing ‘best-in-class’ financial management reporting and working as a thought partner directly with the Founders, Supply Director and wider Surreal team to help support better financial decision making within the business.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete responsibility of the finance function within the business (including the management of the outsourced bookkeeper).
• Ensure all key financial processes and statutory reporting is being adhered to.
• Liaise with external accountants to ensure payroll, statutory accounts and corporation tax return are completed in timely manner.
• Providing ‘best-in-class’ financial reporting within the business including Management accounts, 3 Statement financial models, Cash flow analysis and regular investor and board updates.
• Ensure the business is maximising its working capital position as it scales.
• Development of finance team, financial policies and processes that are fit for growth.
• Working with the founders and senior team members to support the development and delivery of 3-year plan projections, strategy and targets
• Facilitating and finalising the annual budgeting process.
• Ensuring that the Board and Founders are kept informed of the financial position of the company.
• Work hand in hand with operations team to risk mitigate, drive efficiencies and cost control across the supply chain
• Support brand team on budget monitoring and partner with the commercial team and growth team to ensure revenue, investment and margins are in line with business targets.
• Support founders across both Equity fundraising and debt raising process.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• ACCA/CIMA/ICAEW/ICAS qualified (At least 4 years post qualified)
• At least 3 years in FMCG experience
• Experience working with and advising senior management in a finance function
• Experienced in developing financial strategy, detailed accounting knowledge and superb financial analysis skills
• Organisational and project management skills
• Ability to both think strategically and roll up your sleeves to getting stuck in when required.
• Understanding and capability of producing full and complete management accounts, business performance reporting and statutory/ governance requirements
• Experience business partnering wider functions (Commercial, Operational, Brand and Growth teams)
• Experience working with accounting and operations systems – e.g. Xero & Unleashed.
• Experience in Equity fundraising process.
