The Service & Team:
The Sustainable Growth and Development Directorate is at the heart of Cornwall’s ambition to create a thriving, inclusive, and environmentally responsible future. It brings together strategic planning, infrastructure, transport, and environmental services to support sustainable communities and economic growth.
Within this, the Environment and Connectivity Service plays a critical role in delivering integrated transport systems, environmental resilience, and place-based solutions that connect people and places across Cornwall.
The Role
We are seeking a unique leader who is able to provide both strategic and operational leadership to take on the role of Head of Local Transport Operations. This is a pivotal position in shaping and delivering a sustainable, accessible, and integrated transport network across Cornwall.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a basic criminal record disclosure check.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
To be successful in the role, you will need strong leadership and strategic and policy expertise in public and community transport, car parking, and fleet management. You must be financially astute, capable of managing multi-million-pound budgets, and able to embed commercial thinking into service delivery. The role demands a collaborative leader who can work with other services and with communities to achieve agreed outcomes, drive innovation, and lead cultural change. A commitment to inclusive leadership and developing talent is essential.
