Role Overview
Lead and oversee all operational, technical, and maintenance activities across the UK and selected Asia regions. Ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations (UK CAA, ICAO, local regulators), optimise fleet availability, drive performance KPIs, and manager multi-site maintenance and operations team across multiple countries.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Regional Oversight
- Develop and implement operational strategy across UK, Bangkok, Cambodia, and Vietnam, aligned with corporate goals.
- Oversee maintenance and operational execution across all sites, train, mentor, and empower Area Maintenance Manager and support staff.
- Establish and monitor key metrics (aircraft availability, on-time dispatch, budget variance, safety incidents), following frameworks seen in senior roles like 'Aviation Operations Director' in London.
Maintenance & Engineering Management
- Ensure compliance with UK CAA, EASA, ICAO, and regional aviation maintenance standards.
- Oversee preventive/predictive maintenance programs and resource planning mirroring best
- practices from UK MRO Operations Manager roles.
Budget & Resource Control
- Lead CAPEX and OPEX budgeting planning, emphasise cost control, forecasting and fiscal compliance, similar to Boeing’s Birmingham Maintenance Manager role
- Identify and drive cost saving and efficiency initiatives through continuous improvement methodologies.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Implement robust Safety Management Systems, audit schedules, and manage safety Investigations.
- Maintain and enhance the Quality Management Systems, ensuring follow-through on non- conformances corrective actions.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead strong multi-national teams; provide coaching, development, and senior recruitment.
- Promote knowledge-sharing and cross-cultural collaboration, echoing leadership style in UK- based aviation organisations
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Certification
- Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Aviation Management, or similar.
- Valued engineering accreditation (EASA B1/B2, CAA accreditation, ICAO).
Experience
- 8–12 years of progressive experience in aviation maintenance or flight operations, including multi-site oversight.
- Proven track record in leadership, budgeting, safety compliance, and KPI delivery.
- Demonstrated experience managing operations under UK CAA and comparable Asia-Pacific
- regulators.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong knowledge of aircraft systems (airframe, engines, avionics, hydraulics).
- Expertise in maintenance planning, audit control, SMS, and QMS.
- Proficiency in financial planning, data analytics, and digital tools.
Leadership & Interpersonal
- Inspires and leads large, distributed teams across cultures and time zones.
- Strong decision-making and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Comfortable with frequent international travel (UK/SEA).
