Eames are currently partnering with a global financial institution looking to hire a UK Payroll Lead to join their senior leadership team, on a 12 month contract basis. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to lead a large-scale function and drive transformation in a business that services over 50,000 UK-based employees.


This role is ideal for a proven payroll leader with extensive experience running a UK payroll for a large corporation. This Head of Payroll position will be based in their Northampton SCC three days a week, Monday, Tuesday and Friday.


Key responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver the monthly UK payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing payroll team with clear succession plans
  • Partner with transformation teams to drive continuous improvement and change implementation
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for complex issues and ensure timely resolution
  • Advise senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic and operational goals
  • Maintain strong risk controls and meet regulatory requirements


Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in large-scale UK payroll, ideally in Financial Services
  • Proven team leadership experience with ability to coach, develop and retain talent
  • CIPP Level 5 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior leadership level
  • Experience managing transformation or change projects from concept to implementation
