As the Head of People & Culture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and nurturing our positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. You will lead the development and delivery of people strategies that foster employee engagement, personal and professional growth, and a strong sense of belonging across Terrence Higgins Trust. Acting as a trusted partner to leadership and a champion for all employees and volunteers, you will enable Terrence Higgins Trust to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent.
Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and implement a department strategy aligned with the charity’s mission, values and strategic plan.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership team on all HR matters.
- Lead on workforce planning, organisational development, and succession planning.
- Champion a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
HR Operations and Compliance
- Ensure all HR policies, procedures and practices comply with UK employment law and best practice.
- Oversee effective systems for recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and exit processes.
- Lead on embedding our new HR system.
- Champion the adoption of the system, building confidence and capability among managers and staff.
- Lead the charity's approach to pay, benefits, wellbeing and job evaluation.
- Ensure effective management of employee relations, providing expert guidance on complex issues.
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive volunteer strategy that aligns with the charity’s values, objectives, and service delivery needs.
Leadership and Management
- Lead, manage, and develop the HR team, setting clear goals and supporting professional development.
- Collaborate closely with leadership team to understand people needs and deliver appropriate HR solutions.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)
- Drive forward the charity’s DEI strategy, embedding it across policies, practices, and culture.
- Build partnerships and initiatives to promote an inclusive working environment.
Learning and Development
- Develop and oversee strategies for training, leadership development, and talent management.
- Promote a culture of learning and professional growth across all levels of the organisation
