Head of Department – Private Client

Location: Newcastle

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE + Bonus Scheme

An established and forward-thinking law firm in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor to lead and develop its growing department.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior Private Client solicitor or existing Head of Department looking to take on a strategic leadership role within a supportive and ambitious firm.

The Role

You will have full responsibility for the Private Client department, including:

Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of fee earners, paralegals and assistants
Managing and growing a varied caseload including wills, probate, trusts, LPAs, and estate planning
Driving departmental performance, strategy, and business development
Ensuring high standards of client care and regulatory compliance
Working closely with senior management to support firm-wide growth

About You

Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with strong Private Client experience

Proven leadership or supervisory experience (or ready to step up)

Commercially minded with a client-focused approach

Strong technical knowledge and excellent communication skills

Ambitious, proactive, and keen to make a real impact
