Head of R&D

A long-established blockchain R&D lab is hiring a Head of R&D to lead a world-class research and applied cryptography team in London.

This group has spent the past decade advancing blockchain infrastructure and is now focused on some of the hardest problems in zero-knowledge proofs and privacy. Backed by a global organisation, the London team drives applied research that feeds directly into new protocols, tools, and production systems.

As Head of R&D, you will:

• Lead and mentor a close-knit team of applied cryptographers and mathematicians
• Drive research strategy across zero-knowledge proofs, privacy, and scalability
• Contribute hands-on to code (JavaScript and Rust) and applied cryptography
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate research into live systems

They are looking for a Head of R&D who:

• Has a background in zero-knowledge cryptography and mathematics
• Brings leadership experience and the ability to set vision and manage stakeholders
• Can code at a high level (JavaScript and Rust ideally)
• Thrives in bridging research with applied systems development

This is a hybrid role based in London (2 days a week minimum in-office) and can pay between £155k and £170k.
