Job Title: Head of Stakeholder Relations (English)

Salary: £57,100 - £76,450

Location: Cambridge (Hybrid working 40–60% office-based)

Contract: 12 months Fixed term or secondment, Full time (35 hours per week)

About The Role

As Head of Stakeholder Relations (English), you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our engagement with political stakeholders, policymakers, and strategic partners across the UK. Reporting to the Director of Stakeholder Relations, you'll lead the development and delivery of thought leadership, advocacy campaigns, and strategic communications that promote and protect the interests of the English language sector.

You'll represent Cambridge with credibility and authority in political and regulatory arenas, cultivate relationships with senior decision-makers, and drive measurable influence through research, policy dialogue, and public affairs programmes.

  • Leading stakeholder strategy and engagement across Westminster, Whitehall, and UK regulators.
  • Designing and delivering advocacy campaigns and strategic communications.
  • Advising senior leaders on public policy and regulatory developments.
  • Representing Cambridge at high-profile events and forums.
  • Launching and amplifying research on English language testing.
  • Leading stakeholder strategy and engagement across Westminster, Whitehall, and UK regulators.

About You

The successful candidate will be a confident, forward-thinking leader, equipped with proven experience in public affairs, government relations, or stakeholder engagement. You will possess a strong understanding of the UK's political and regulatory environments, enabling you to navigate complex policy landscapes with ease. Exceptional communication and influencing skills are essential, as you will need to distil intricate policy matters into compelling and accessible narratives for a range of audiences.

Our Interview process:

If you are shortlisted, we will hold a competency-based interview, where you'll also be asked to deliver a short presentation. This, and the discussion that follows, will help us understand your approach to stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, and relationship-building.

If successful, you'll be invited to a final interview with a senior stakeholder. This brief conversation will explore how your strategic thinking align with our organisational priorities and values.

Please note that successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory background checks including DBS due to working in a regulated industry.
