About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you’ll oversee all aspects of financial reporting, management accounts, and compliance, supporting boards, auditors, and senior stakeholders.
You’ll lead a small, expert team delivering day-to-day transactions through to strategic planning and statutory reporting. The role involves financial governance, tax compliance (in partnership with the University’s Tax Team), and advising on the financial setup of new ventures. You’ll also drive improvements, provide training, and ensure subsidiaries meet all financial regulations and reporting standards.
This is a varied and rewarding post suited to an experienced accountant with a proactive approach, strong leadership skills, and an eye for both detail and strategic insight. You’ll be part of a collaborative and flexible team environment, contributing to the success of innovative and impactful University-linked entities.
About You
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA)
• Experience in financial and management accounting for complex organisations
• Knowledge of SME company reporting, tax, and compliance
• Proven leadership and communication skills
• Proficient in Sage (or similar), Excel, and financial systems
• Organised, self-motivated, and deadline-driven
Desirable:
• Oracle Financials experience, tax and charity accounting knowledge, and familiarity with the higher education sector
