Role Overview

Systal is undergoing a period of sustained high-growth globally and is therefore looking for an ambitious, Group Head of Tax to join our UK team based out of our Glasgow office. The individual will be part of a high performing team, reporting into an ambitious and entrepreneurial senior management team and its Private Equity partners.

What will you be doing?

The Head of Tax will be responsible for driving key tax and treasury issues across an international Group. Key responsibilities will be:

• Manage the Group’s global R&D claims process by working closely with the business to gather required source information, maintain robust supporting evidence for each claim and identify potential process improvements.
• Manage the Group’s Transfer Pricing Policy, including review of calculation of transfer pricing charges, Intercompany Invoicing, preparing contemporaneous Transfer Pricing documentation and managing Transfer Pricing related enquiries from Tax Authorities.
• Manage direct and indirect tax compliance for a multi-national business and work closely with our outsourced compliance providers to ensure timely delivery of information to ensure all filing and payment obligations are timely met.
• Manage withholding tax risk on cross border transactions where applicable and work with partners / customers and the business to mitigate that risk where possible.
• Manage any indirect ad hoc queries and lead on complex indirect tax issues.
• Manage any queries or requests from Tax Authorities globally.
• Work with advisors as appropriate for support on complex or technical issues.
• Manage tax issues arising from the PE structure, in particular, corporate interest restriction rules, interest payment withholding tax issues, issuance of sweet equity.
• Work with the CFO on good governance procedures, tax strategy and implementing robust tax processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation across the Tax function and ensure all available tools and systems are being fully utilised.

Who are we looking for?

• Minimum 5 years of post-qualified experience in tax.
• In-house tax experience of a multi-national business is advantageous but not compulsory.
• Experience managing people / teams.
• Must be able to demonstrate solid business acumen and ability to partner successfully with non-Tax people in the business.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Practical and proactive mindset.
• CTA or CA/ACCA qualified.
• Exposure to international treasury helpful.
