About the role
Are you ready to lead technical excellence for one of the UK’s most respected food businesses? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Head Technical Manager to join Cranswick Continental Foods, overseeing our Bury and Worsley sites. In this senior leadership role, you’ll shape and deliver the technical strategy, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, and compliance while embedding Group objectives across multiple business units — including our manufacturing partners. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll drive consistency, best practice, and continuous improvement across the technical agenda, making a real impact at both site and Group level.

What you’ll do
• Lead the delivery of site-level technical strategy in line with Group and divisional objectives.
• Drive and maintain exceptional food safety, quality, and compliance standards across both sites.
• Support implementation of commercial strategy through strong supplier and manufacturing engagement.
• Work collaboratively with division business units and key stakeholders.
• Ensure all technical requirements meet Cranswick policies and external standards (retailers, customers, certification bodies).
• Provide leadership and development for site Technical teams, building a strong talent pipeline.
• Represent the Technical function at senior leadership level, influencing key decisions.
What you’ll bring
• Proven experience in a senior Technical role within the food industry (minimum of Technical Manager level).
• Background in Meat, Fish, Poultry (MFP) and experience working across multiple business units.
• Strong knowledge of UK retailer technical requirements and standards.
• Relevant qualifications and experience in food safety, compliance, and risk management.
• Strategic mindset with proven project and change management expertise.
• Excellent leadership, people development, and performance management skills.
• Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to engage at all levels.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive, organised approach.
