Head of Unified Communications & Secure Networks
Overview:
We are seeking a strategic and driven Head of Department to lead our Unified Communications and Secure Networks department. This role will take full ownership of the department’s operations, performance, and growth, with direct line management responsibility for all technical staff across both areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all technical staff across the Unified Communications and Secure Networks teams.
• Ensure effective delivery of services and projects across both departments.
• Drive resource planning and maximise team utilisation.
• Collaborate with Sales and Account Managers to support pre-sales efforts and solution design.
• Own departmental P&L and contribute to budget planning and forecasting.
• Set strategic direction in line with business goals.
• Develop and mentor team members, promote a high-performance culture.
• Oversee technical standards, service quality, and compliance.
• Ensure clients maintain supported, secure infrastructure (e.g. up-to-date firewall firmware, vendor-supported devices, regular reviews).
• Define and enforce minimum standards across the client base to reduce risk and improve overall security posture.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and service delivery.
• Act as senior escalation point for key customer and operational issues.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Proven leadership experience in unified communications and/or secure networks.
• Strong understanding of technical delivery, service operations, and resource planning.
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary technical teams.
• Commercial awareness with experience supporting pre-sales.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence at all levels and drive continuous improvement.
• Experience managing staff across multiple locations
Desirable Experience:
• Exposure to key platforms and vendors such as Microsoft Teams, Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, and WatchGuard.
• Experience implementing or overseeing compliance with security standards and frameworks.
• Understanding of ITIL Framework
