Health Care Support Worker - INTERNAL

Job Overview

The post holder will work alongside the Pre-operative Assessment Nurse Specialist Team to undertake pre-operative assessments for patients referred into the service; and to assist with the management of a large caseload of patients who are coming to clinic.

Main duties of the job

• Undertake bloods and ECGs.
• Take observations.
• Height and weight and BMI.
• MRSA and MSU collection.
• Undertaking of audits.
• Supporting the nursing staff as required with filling, photocopying etc.
  
  

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications/Knowledge

Essential criteria

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in care related subjects
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Willing/ Working towards related qualifications such as "All-wales HCSW induction framework or ICST
  
  

Experience

Essential criteria

• Substantial experience working in a Healthcare Assistant role
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Experience of working with respiratory patients
• Experience of working with chronic disease patients
  
  

Clinical Skills

Essential criteria

• Evidence of taking basic clinical observations
  
  

Desirable criteria

• Knowledge and understanding of clinical activities around Oxygen therapy
  
  

Communication

Essential Criteria

• Excellent communication skills
  
  

Desirable criteria

• IT skills/knowledge
• Knowledge of BCU IT systems such as Stream/ WPAS
