The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable.

Job Overview

We an have exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker (Schools) to join our School Nursing Team, working 20 hours per week, all year round based at Pantside Flying Start building.

This role is to work under the supervision of the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (School Nurse) by contributing to the delivery of the Healthy Child Wales Programme, Child Measurement Programme, Vision Screening programme within the allocated team/ borough and supporting the school based immunisation programme Gwent wide.

It is essential that the successful candidate has a level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent demonstrable Health and Social Care qualification. Experience of working in a similar role is desirable, however, full training will be given. Experience of working with children and /or community experience is also an advantage.

The successful candidate must be flexible to the needs of the service and able to meet the geographical defines of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Awareness of importance of confidentiality

Qualifications

  • NVQ/QCF level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent demonstrable Health and Social Care qualification

Desirable criteria

  • Previous experience of working with children
  • Previous experience of working within the community
  • Previous experience in similar duties
  • Participation in vaccination sessions as an immuniser
