Healthcare Assistant – Private Patients GP Practice

Are you passionate about supporting patients to take control of their health? We’re looking for a dedicated Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our welcoming team at our established, state-of-the-art private GP practice on St Vincent Street in Glasgow City Centre. Roodlane Medical Centre.
Here, you’ll be part of a service that specialises in health screening, preventative medicine, and personalised GP care. Unlike in fast-paced NHS settings, you’ll have the time, resources and environment to provide truly patient-focused care. Our private patients value the quality of service, attention to detail, and expert support we provide—and you’ll play a key role in delivering it.
This is a
fixed-term position until November 2026, with every opportunity for a permanent role as our practice continues to grow.
What You’ll Do
As a Healthcare Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced GPs, supporting both routine appointments and comprehensive health assessments. Your varied responsibilities will include:
- Performing health checks: blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, BMI and hydration levels
- Conducting electrocardiograms (ECGs) and other cardiac tests
- Phlebotomy and preparing samples for laboratory analysis
- Respiratory function testing (spirometry)
- Audiology and eye tests
- Drug and alcohol screening (including Chain of Custody testing)
- Urinalysis to screen for systemic conditions
- Assisting with mobility and posture assessments
- Simple wound care, dressing changes, suture and clip removal
You’ll also provide emotional and practical support to patients, ensure robust infection control measures, maintain accurate records, and play a vital role in the smooth running of our clinical service.
What You’ll Bring
- Previous direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting
- Care Certificate (or working towards) and ideally NVQ Level 2 / RQF Diploma in Health & Social Care
- Minimum Level 2 Safeguarding training
- Excellent communication skills and a warm, professional approach
- A genuine interest in preventative healthcare and continuous improvement
