If you are an existing Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker with experience in hospitals, primary care or the community we are interested to hear from you.

Healthcare services in HMP Liverpool have undergone transformational changes in the last 12 months and we are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing exceptional care for a vulnerable population group.

On a daily basis you would be on shift with a large team of clinicians, working together to meet the health care needs of approximately 1000 patients.

You may find yourself providing inpatient care on our specialist inpatient unit, running phlebotomy & ecg clinics, providing close monitoring of patients stabilising from drug & alcohol use, assessing new arrivals in our reception department, undertaking health promotion tasks or supporting with medication rounds.

Working in a Prison environment is a unique experience. All candidates shortlisted for interview will have the opportunity to visit the site, where I'm sure many of your intial impressions would be challenged. Healthcare at HMP Liverpool is delivered in a purpose built healthcare department, with all of the equipment and resources you would expect to find in outpatient clinics in the community.

Assisting with medication administration.

Clinical support worker led clinics such as NHS Health checks, Phlebotomy, ECG and QOF related reviews

Supporting registered nurses in delivering emergency care as well as assessing and reviewing patients

Blood borne virus and sexual health screening

First and second night initial reception screening

Health promotion duties.

Supporting patients with substance misuse needs and monitoring them during their early days in custody.

Support registered nurses to manage and monitor patients with long term health conditions.

Supporting patients needs on the inpatient unit including personal care, diet and fluid monitoring, daily observations, pressure area care etc.
