Position Summary:

My client is a global leading solar and renewables manufacturing company, they are looking for a technically proficient and commercially driven Heat Pump Pre-Sales Engineer / Technical Manager to accelerate our growth across the UK.


Location: United Kingdom (England-Based Preferred)

Position Type: Full-Time, Flexible Office (Work from Home available)

Reports To: Western Europe Regional Manager


This role requires a unique blend of HVAC engineering expertise and consultative sales skills to design, present, and close heat pump solutions for residential (B2C) and commercial (B2B) clients. The ideal candidate will be an expert in UK heating decarbonization policies (e.g., Boiler Upgrade Scheme - BUS), possess strong financial acumen for ROI modelling, and excel at building trust with diverse stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Technical Solution Design & Sales: Conduct detailed property/energy assessments (on-site/remote), design optimized air/ground-source heat pump systems using industry software, calculate energy savings & ROI, and present compelling technical-commercial proposals to clients.
  2. Multi-Segment Business Development:
  • B2C: Generate and convert leads via targeted outreach (calls, digital demos), homeowner events, collaborations with property developers/estate agents, and participation in local exhibitions (e.g., Ideal Home Show).
  • B2B: Build relationships with housing associations, facilities managers, architects, M&E contractors, and public sector bodies to secure project-based sales.
  1. Policy & Incentive Expertise: Master and proactively advise clients on UK government schemes and financing options to overcome cost barriers and close sales.
  2. Channel Partner Enablement: Train and support approved installer partners on technical specifications, MCS compliance, and optimal system design. Develop technical sales collateral (UK-specific).
  3. Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise closely with surveyors, installation teams, and service departments to ensure accurate feasibility checks, seamless project handover, and on-time commissioning.
  4. Customer Success & Retention: Provide post-sale technical support, resolve complex complaints, conduct system performance reviews, and foster long-term relationships for referrals/service contracts.
  5. Market Intelligence: Identify key growth opportunities (e.g., new-build regulations, local authority decarbonization projects) and competitor activity, reporting insights to management.


Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Credentials:
  • Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field OR significant equivalent HVAC technical sales experience.
  • Essential: Proven experience in HVAC system design/sales, with specific heat pump knowledge highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in heat load calculation software (e.g., Heat Engineer, MCS Heat Pump Calculator) and understanding of UK Building Regulations (Part L).
  • Sales & Commercial Acumen:
  • A proven track record in technical B2B/B2C sales / pre-sales, preferably in heating/renewables. Track record of meeting/exceeding targets.
  • Strong financial modelling skills to present clear ROI/payback analyses.
  • Expertise in navigating UK government grants (BUS essential).
  • UK Market Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of UK heating market dynamics, fuel types, consumer attitudes, and decarbonization policies.
  • Familiarity with MCS certification process for installers & products.
  • Communication & Relationship Building:
  • Exceptional ability to explain complex technical & financial concepts clearly to homeowners and professionals.
  • Fluent English (written & spoken).
  • Organization & Drive:
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and adept at managing a sales pipeline (CRM experience e.g., Salesforce).
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel extensively within territory.
  • Right to Work: Unrestricted right to work in the UK.


Desirable Qualifications

  • MCS Certified Heat Pump Designer/Advisor qualification.
  • Experience selling under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).
  • Established network within UK HVAC contractors, developers, or housing associations.
  • Knowledge of renewable electricity tariffs (e.g., Octopus Cozy, Intelligent Flux).
