What you’ll be doing:
This is a hands-on role combining site and office work to help keep the highway network safe, compliant, and well maintained. You’ll inspect roads, footways, and street furniture, identify and record defects, and decide on appropriate actions.
You’ll order and supervise repair works, oversee contractors on site, and ensure work is completed safely, to standard, and with minimal disruption. The role involves responding to enquiries and complaints from residents, councillors, and utility companies, carrying out site meetings, and maintaining clear records.
You’ll also inspect utility works, issue statutory notices where required, check invoices, carry out audits, and support legal matters, including preparing evidence and representing the Council. You’ll work closely with internal teams and contribute to applications, insurance reports, and public correspondence.
