The Highways Maintenance Operative plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works, playing a vital part in operations. The role includes road safety improvement and active travel schemes, civils works, drainage works, road gritting, maintenance works and routine cyclic activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake all aspects of highways maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities.
- Drive/operate vehicles including HGV/small and large plant ensuring vehicle checks, routine maintenance and cleaning duties undertaken.
- Winter maintenance to include emergency call out and standby.
- Attend project and work briefings.
- Adhere to health and safety requirements.
- Self motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions.
