We’re looking for a dedicated Highway Maintenance Operative – Winter Driver to join our Routine & Reactive team. This is a vital role where you’ll be helping to keep roads safe and communities connected, especially during challenging weather conditions. The role offers flexibility through a zero-hour contract, ideal for those seeking seasonal work or additional hours.

What you'll be doing
- Driving HGV gritters on defined routes during winter months (on-call shifts)
- Supporting emergency response and highway repair teams
- Conducting vehicle checks and completing essential paperwork
- Ensuring safety and professionalism in all public interactions
- Working flexibly across various public realm services
Essential
- HGV Class 2 licence with CPC hours in date
- Willingness to work outside normal hours and be on paid standby
- Team player with a proactive attitude
- Telehandler qualification
- Experience in highways maintenance
- Streetworks, CSCS, Manual Handling, Traffic Management training
