About The Role
As a
HomeLink Support Officer within
Nottingham City Council Housing Services, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable residents in accessing social housing through the HomeLink Choice Based Lettings scheme. This role focuses on delivering person-centred advice and practical assistance to customers with complex housing needs, including those with medical or social challenges.
You will work directly with individuals in their homes, identifying barriers to accessing suitable housing and offering tailored support or referrals to relevant services. With a strong focus on early intervention, you'll proactively identify and assist those at risk of exclusion from housing services, helping to ensure they are empowered to make informed decisions about their housing options.
Your responsibilities will include assessing applications for priority rehousing, offering housing-related advice, and working in partnership with statutory, voluntary and community organisations. You will also be the key point of contact for care-leavers referred by Children’s Services, supporting their transition into secure and appropriate accommodation.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Substantial experience of working within a housing management environment and an ability to learn.
- A working knowledge and awareness and understanding of current housing issues and legislation, including in relation to Allocations, Tenancy Management and Welfare Benefits.
- Evidence of working successfully in partnership across different sectors, building and maintaining good working relationships.
- Demonstrating personal commitment to the equality, diversity and inclusion challenges faced by our workforce and Nottingham’s people.
- Ability to remain calm and able to make accurate and timely decisions whilst under pressure and to maintain control of challenging situations.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively organise and use own initiative to prioritise workload to ensure that tasks are completed in an efficient and timely manner, with minimum supervision.
