Job Description
As an HR Administrator, you will be a vital member of our HR team, acting as the first point of contact for onboarding queries and supporting the delivery of a smooth, compliant and first-class administrative process for all new starters. The successful candidate will ideally join us in February 2026, with a handover period ideally taking place over February Half Term. We welcome applications for full-time working but are also open to discussing flexibility around start and finish times.
You will work closely with the HR, Payroll, Data and Recruitment teams, as well as managers and prospective employees across the Schools. This role is perfect for someone with strong administrative experience in HR or recruitment who thrives in a busy, people-focused environment and has excellent attention to detail.
Role And Responsibilities
- Complete all necessary pre-employment checks, including overseas checks and safeguarding training.
- Complete all DBS applications for new employees, volunteers, exchange trips, etc.
- Update the HRIS to ensure all new starter information is correct for data and payroll.
- Keep new starter trackers and checklists updated at all times.
- Maintain the Single Central Register and support the Director of People with compliance audits, including the ISI inspection process.
- Manage all new starter enquiries, answering queries and assisting with requests and issues relating to onboarding activities.
- Support the Recruitment Co-ordinator with arranging interviews, meeting and greeting applicants to the schools, and in processing paperwork associated with job offers and contracts.
- Liaise with DofE, CCF and Sports to maintain up to date records of current volunteers.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc reports and statistical information relating to workforce data as required, including SCR reporting.
- Manage the HRIS “workflows” for new starters.

Essential Criteria
- Good standard of general education.
- Demonstrable experience of providing high quality, efficient and effective HR / Recruitment admin services within an HR setting.
- Capable of own time management to hit deadlines.
- Knowledge of HR onboarding and pre-employment processes.
- Awareness of Safeguarding practices in recruitment.
- Knowledge of GDPR.
- Previous experience of the use of HR / Recruitment software.
- Intermediate/advanced IT skills, including Microsoft package.
- An understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
- Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- The ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desired Criteria
- CIPD level 3 qualification or equivalent qualifications / skills gained through experience.
- Experience of working in a similar HR / compliance role in an independent school or other similar regulated setting.
- Knowledge of SCR
