We’re looking for a proactive and people-focused HR Advisor to join our team, based at our Northampton site (NN4 5FB). This role includes travel to other locations, so being flexible and adaptable is key.

In this role, you’ll provide high-quality, efficient HR support to managers, teams, and employees across the UK. You’ll be the go-to person for advice on a wide range of HR topics, from policies and procedures to day-to-day guidance and best practices. You’ll also play a key role in supporting change initiatives and helping to deliver HR projects that make a real impact across the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Operational HR – general business support
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers, colleagues and the HR team on all aspects of employment law and best practice.
  • As necessary, support ER processes ensuring investigations, disciplinary hearings, grievances and appeals are carried out to meet both company and legal requirements for a fair and consistent procedure.
  • Support and advise managers during business restructures \ changes to ensure fair and consistent procedures are adhered to during any redundancy processes.
  • As necessary, provide accurate financial information and calculations to support company decision-making.
  • Maintain good relationships with TU bodies, undertaking regular communication to resolve issues at the earliest opportunity. Supporting the resolution of collective disputes and collective bargaining where required.
  • Coaching and Knowledge Share
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and company policy to ensure the delivery of a service that properly balances best practice, compliance, and commercial pragmatism.
  • Support managers by providing advice, coaching, and training on employment law and best practices to help prevent formal proceedings and promote a harmonious work environment..
  • Complete all required company training to support business objectives and ensure compliance
  • Support managers in welfare and capability cases, ensuring timely, professional handling and appropriate use of occupational health and support.
  • Ensuring all relevant legal considerations are achieved when taking any steps to manage employee cases.
  • Partner with HR to support recruitment, inductions, and talent development.
  • To support all other parts of the business as required in the development and implementation of strategies and tactical plans.
  • Approvals and Reporting Information
  • Approve business and employee changes per company policy, ensuring term consistency.
  • As required, complete all necessary recording and analysis of employee relation activity in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Providing as required business report information, taking due consideration of GDPR when sharing details both internally and externally


Key requirements

  • Proven experience in an HR Advisor or similar role, advising managers across all HR matters
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, especially in disciplinary, absence management, and equality
  • Experience in manufacturing, retail, or logistics environments is a plus
  • Solid understanding of HR best practices
  • Excellent communication skills across all levels of the business
  • Strong time management, with the ability to prioritise and stay calm under pressure
  • Practical problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working in a high-demand environment with tight deadlines and flexible hours
  • Proficient in Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Driving licence (regular business travel will be required)
