Job Overview
The HR, IR & Talent Manager will provide professional commercial HR & Talent advice, guidance and support to senior, operational and line management to meet business stream objectives in line with legislation and people best practice. They will be the key interface between the G4S GPA Team and the wider G4S SSUK business to ensure that we continue to attract, recruit, retain, train and develop the best possible people on the GPA Security contract.
To take a commercial and pragmatic approach, working in partnership with the management population and the team to deliver HR solutions in line with business practices and legal considerations.
Key Responsibilities
HR/Employee Relations
- Provide professional HR support, accurate and appropriate advice, including advice on complex cases ie absence, grievance and disciplinary, to line management in relation to the workforce
- Employee relations case management - using the system to update
- Handling HR matters reliably and in accordance with legal requirements
- Informing employees of their rights and entitlements and keeping them up to date on any changes that are made in the HRIS
- Assist in the updating and implementation of efficient GPA specific HR policies and procedures, often championing change and business innovations
- Provide support and advice to line managers to contribute to partnership working with Trade Unions and staff representative groups as and when required.
- Provide support and guidance with Union pay negotiations / consultations
- Coordinate the implementation of GPA site specific workforce agreements and procedures with the union
- Develop new ER knowledge and skills sessions to meet the needs of the business.
- Deliver ER knowledge and skills sessions for managers and take a proactive approach to ensuring all managers in your business area attend sessions.
- Develop and utilise accurate HR metrics to identify trends and propose solutions
- Reviewing and supporting managers with drafting of documentation connected to employee relations matters, including outcome letters, invites and suspension letters in line with company policy
- Ownership of the end to end occupational health (OH) process working proactively with management population and the OH provider. Liaison and relationship building with company OH providers and providing and collating feedback where required.
- Supporting legal with compiling Employment Tribunal related documentation, assessment of business risk and maintaining MI.
Resourcing
- Provide guidance, advice and support to the Security management team to identify recruitment requirements, activities and needs in support of the physical security contract at GPA and Associated Development
- Oversee, direct and support recruitment, selection and on-boarding of new personnel
Learning Developement
- Leading and coordinating on all Training requirements for the GPA Contract. This includes Apprenticeship attendance along with ensuring Training Records and materials are kept up to date.
- Plan and coordinate all management development activities and talent management activities including internal promotions to supervision level
- Ensure people are put first – train, oversee and assure that line management and supervisors are conducting and recording appropriately, monthly care visits and annual appraisals in line with G4S SSUK policy
Other
- Management of third party suppliers that support the GPA Contract directly
- Coordinate the collection of accurate data and produce management information relating to employees, ensuring that any risks or business defects are monitored, actioned/referred as applicable in line with the ESP
- Building strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
- Where required, support the Speak Out process by liaising with managers and supporting the process.
- Other duties as deemed reasonable to the role.
Skills And Knowledge
- Previous experience in a ER-related role (previously handled large ER caseloads)
- Extensive experience in coaching and advising managers of all abilities in HR matters including disciplinary, grievance, redundancy and TUPE
- Resilient and confident in advising managers via video call and by telephone
- Excellent understanding of UK Employment law
- High level of attention to detail
