Purpose of the Role


The HR Officer is a key role in ensuring our HR operations run seamlessly, optimising our HR system (HiBob), working closely with payroll and finance, and providing practical, people-focused support to line managers. The role will be responsible for ensuring that policies, processes, and systems empower our teams to do their best work, and that our culture reflects our values.


Main Responsibilities


  • Act as the HiBob HR system super user, developing, maintaining, and optimising the system to improve processes and user experience.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for line managers, providing advice and guidance on HR policies, processes, and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate and secure employee records, ensuring compliance with data protection, as well as client and legislative requirements.
  • Collaborate with payroll and accounts teams to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing, including managing updates to employee information, benefits, and deductions.
  • Support the consistent application of policies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the employee experience.
  • Carry out regular audits and checks of mandatory training completion and any relevant policy acknowledgements needed.
  • Support the Recruitment Manager with organising interviews and the creation of contracts of employment for the Director of People to review.
  • Provide administrative support.


Required Skills


Essential


  • Around 5 years’ experience in a generalist HR role, covering HR operations, systems, payroll coordination, and manager support.
  • Strong HR systems knowledge, ideally with experience as a super user or advanced user of HiBob or a similar HRIS.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice, with the ability to apply this knowledge in day-to-day situations.
  • Experience working closely with payroll and finance teams to ensure accurate processing and compliance.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust and positive relationships at all levels.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information


Desirable


  • CIPD qualification
  • Experience working in an international organisation or across multiple countries/jurisdictions.
  • Knowledge or interest in biodiversity, sustainability, or conservation.
  • Experience supporting employee engagement, wellbeing, or culture initiatives.
