We are looking for motivated and focused individuals to join our Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Team at London Array Wind Farm. This is a valuable opportunity to develop your skills and train to become a High Voltage (HV) Safety Controller (Senior Authorised Person - SAP) for large-scale offshore wind farms operating at voltages up to 400kV.
In this role, you’ll take responsibility for implementing the company’s safety rules, managing the HV network, and operating equipment safely and efficiently to ensure work is carried out safely.
The role starts with an initial training period at our operational sites where you’ll gain essential knowledge and practical experience. As you grow, you may have the opportunity to play an integral part in the construction, commissioning, and operational management of other offshore windfarms within the RWE fleet.
About The Role
- Safety Control and Operations: Progress towards becoming an HV Safety Controller, assisting with network commissioning and on-site operational activities
- Outage Coordination: Support the planning and execution of planned maintenance and respond to unplanned outages on time
- Promote Safety Culture: Encourage and maintain an effective safety-first approach across the team and workplace
- HV Network Oversight: Oversee HV network operational activities and coordinate O&M tasks to ensure seamless workflows
- Enhancing Performance: Strive to enhance plant availability and ensure the integrity of key assets.
- Fault Diagnosis: Perform routine checks, diagnostic activities, and corrective actions on the HV network
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with site management, operational teams, control rooms, and external stakeholders such as National Grid and OFTO operators
- Rotational Work: Participate in a 24/7 rota to ensure reliable site operations and emergency response.
- Procedure Development: Support the review, development, and maintenance of company safety rules and site-specific procedures
- Project Management: Contribute to the planning and delivery of small-scale projects, including upgrades, modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives
Job Requirements And Experience
- Driven group contributor with advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- IT literacy, with practical experience using CMMS (e.g., SAP), Microsoft Suite, and Adobe applications
- Qualification: Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Solid understanding of risk assessment processes and method statements (e.g., IOSH Managing Safely certification or equivalent)
Advantageous But Not Essential
- Previous experience in roles such as Safety Controller, SAP, AP, DUT (Duty Electrical Technician), or equivalent electrical duty holder positions
- Knowledge or practical experience in offshore wind energy or similar industries, including working at height and at sea
- Familiarity with HV switchgear design, operation, and maintenance practices
