Role Overview:
We are seeking an individual who can operate at a senior/principal level within our project team, contributing technical oversight and mentorship to junior staff. It is desired that the candidate has a proven track record of delivering hydraulic modelling projects and experience in leading client engagement, project scoping, and the delivery of detailed technical reports
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and validate hydraulic and hydrodynamic models for rivers and coastal systems.
- Conduct flood risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies.
- Perform coastal modelling, including wave and tidal analyses.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders.
- Deliver project tasks within budget and schedule constraints.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory bodies, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor and supervise junior team members, fostering their professional growth.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modelling software such as Flood Modeller Pro, TUFLOW, or HEC-RAS.
- Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Chartered status or working towards chartership with a relevant institution (e.g., CIWEM) is desirable.
Essential Skills:
- Knowledge of UK hydrological methodologies, such as the Flood Estimation Handbook.
- Experience in developing hydrological studies and understanding of basic hydraulics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely, producing high-quality reports.
- Proactive approach to work with strong analytical abilities.
- Attention to detail and focus on quality.
- Ability to apply knowledge to non-standard situations.
- Effective communication skills with team members and external organizations.
- Knowledge of Python scripting for tool development and data analysis is beneficial but not essential.
