Day to Day:
Insight Global is looking for an IBM System Engineer to work on-site at one of our leading manufacturing clients in Hemel Hempstead. This role plays a dual role in managing IBM iSeries systems and driving digital IT initiatives across the business. This position involves administering and supporting IBM iSeries environments, performing system analysis, and leading or co-leading IT projects to deliver technology solutions that meet business needs. You will be working closely within the Cooperate IT Division and once every three weeks you will need to be remotely on call for emergencies of the system.
Must Haves:
- Strong experience on IBM iSeries (IBMi) systems focusing on the administration, support, hardware management, backup and recovery of the system
- Hands on experience using CL (Control Language) and RPG (Report Program Generator) programming to automate processes and improve application functionality
- Previous experience using SQL or Query for database management, security and administration within an enterprise environment
- Comfortable working on ServiceNow to remotely resolve and document tickets for end users
- Proficient with MS Teams for remote support
Plusses:
- Experience supporting and maintaining JD Edwards system
- Hands on experience with IBM Power10 Servers and IBM TS4500 Tape Library
- Exposure to IBM MQ Series handling message queuing, cross platform support and security
