IFRS 17 Finance Lead

Are you a technical accounting expert who thrives on complex standards, sharp analysis and real influence across a major organisation? We’re looking for a driven professional to elevate our accounting, controls and financial governance to the next level.

What you'll do:

• Be the go-to expert on technical accounting, creating clear, high-quality papers for senior leaders, auditors and external stakeholders.
• Own and evolve our accounting policies — drafting new ones and refreshing existing frameworks.
• Play a key role in the monthly IFRS 17 close, supporting our models and processes with deep technical insight.
• Deliver IFRS 17 training that uplifts capability across Finance and the wider business.
• Lead on key technical controls — from impairment reviews to loss-making contract assessments.
• Partner with Business Units, Risk teams, auditors and advisors on major accounting and control initiatives, including new standards, contract reviews, transformation programmes and process redesign.
• Support financial controls testing, annual self-attestation and remediation activities, ensuring documentation and risk evaluations stay sharp and up to date.
• Champion a culture of technical excellence, accountability and strong financial control across the organisation.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong technical accounting expertise — IFRS 9, 15 and 16 essential.
• Proven experience in financial risk, controls and compliance.
• Audit background with deep knowledge of audit principles and practices.
• Experience with financial controls testing methodologies.
• Exposure to SOX frameworks and/or insurance accounting (including IFRS 17) — a strong advantage.
• A recognised professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
