What You’ll Be Doing
- Coordinating the movement of products and equipment into the country in adherence with the relevant customs regulations
- Accurate and timely raising of customs clearance instructions for various freight agents enabling swift movement of goods
- Ensuring all monthly deadlines are met in relation to HMRC import declarations, with cost effective and lawful execution of all import activities, together with accurate reporting to HMRC
- Collaborating with internal customers and liaising with forwarders and agents to acquire shipment information
- Understanding and regular utilisation of various duty relief schemes enabling cost effective service to the Business
- Maintaining and sharing with colleagues as appropriate, knowledge of all relevant import law and procedures, tariffs and duties, licenses and restrictions
Essential
Your skills and experiences:
- Experience in an import role
- Must be familiar with the legal requirements regarding importing of shipments
- Understanding of the role of freight forwarders
- Must be familiar with Simplified Customs Declaration Procedures (SCDP) and knowledge of Customs Special Procedures
- IT competent with good Microsoft word and excel skills
- Experience of operating a Duty Management System

The Import Operations Team
Join our Import Operations Team, a dynamic group responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and compliant movement of goods into the UK. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the team manages all aspects of HMRC-defined import documentation, stays ahead of changing legislation, and upholds strong governance and compliance standards.
