An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Improvement Project Manager (Finance) to join the Financial Improvement team in Derby.

The role is part of the Financial Improvement Team within the Civil Financial Controller organisation and is key in delivering major improvement projects which aim to drive simplification, standardisation and increased controls and governance to existing processes. The projects are short and medium term which span cross functional teams to enable a better synergy across the Civil organisation not just restricted to Finance.

Some of our current in-flight projects are changes to our MRO Trading relationships with our Aftermarket Overhaul Bases, improvements to the Overhaul Base Trading Financial accounting and supporting the wider Civil Business with improvement activities that require guidance on financial processes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the successful delivery of strategically important, large, complex projects (or programmes of work) within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost, to deliver specified customer requirements.
  • Responsible for the creation and management of an integrated set of plans and schedules
  • Effectively estimates timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to scope
  • Organise and chair scheduled review meetings and report areas where executive decisions need to be made
  • Establish, develop, and maintain the documentation necessary to deliver the packages of work e.g. project charters, statements of work, project plans, delivery trackers, test trackers
  • Provides effective leadership to the project team ensuring that team members are motivated and developing their skills and experience in project management and are adhering to agreed methodologies and standards
  • Monitors project progress, budget, risks, issues; and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances
  • Management of external suppliers where appropriate
  • Ensures that the project is formally closed, and lessons learned are captured and actioned
  • Responsible for liaising with Internal Controls to ensure that new deliverables adhere to the required standards.

  • Prior experience of working within a programme and a project governance structure.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
