This is a secondment post for 4 months ending on 31/03/2026 due to funding.
This is a unique opportunity for a skilled, experienced and dynamic health professional to lead on the implementation of a new Primary Care Capabilities Framework for Inclusion Health, Prison and Custody Suites.
You will work at a national level with a wide range of stakeholders under the direction of the Consultant in Public Health Medicine as part of a multi-skilled team. Your work and the expertise you will bring to the team, will drive the implementation of the capabilities framework across Wales. You will have substantial experience and knowledge of working in inclusion health in the community and/or in prisons and have clinical credibility in those areas.
You will deliver this bespoke piece of work within a challenging timeframe with a high level of intellectual rigour, utilising robust negotiation and motivation skills, a flexible approach, pragmatism and time management skills.
You will collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and senior leadership, including staff working within Health Boards, prisons, primary care organisations, clinical professional groups and bodies and other key stakeholder organisations.
You will be part of the Primary Care Division in Public Health Wales, led by the Director of Primary Care / Programme Director for the Strategic Programme for Primary Care who is supported by public health consultants and practitioners, working collaboratively with the Strategic Programme for Primary Care, health boards, and the Welsh Government.
Formulate and coordinate complex, multi-stranded implementation plans for the national roll-out of the Inclusion Health Capabilities Framework with a high level of intellectual rigour. This includes strategic planning, managing interdependencies across multi-agency programmes, and re-prioritising resources to ensure timely and effective delivery, considering local and organisational needs, national policy and strategy directions
Lead the development and implementation of national policy and service improvement initiatives related to inclusion health
Interpret national policy and translate it into actionable local strategies, ensuring alignment with NHS Wales objectives and contributing to service transformation
Translate strategic guidance into service development plans, contribute subject matter expertise to shape the direction and implementation of inclusion health initiatives.
