We have an exciting secondment opportunity within the Clinical Directorate, for an experienced IG professional to join the DPO Service team, to lead a new cluster support service.

What The Role Involves

This role will provide senior level support within the Information Governance team, providing expert Information governance advice and guidance to stakeholders across a number of projects and programs.

You will focus on the development, delivery and maintenance of the new DPO Cluster service and wider DPO Service delivery, supporting a range of primary care cluster projects and programs of work.

What We Are Looking For

  • Subject Matter Expertise in Data Protection and a clear understanding of Primary Care Information Governance is essential. 
  • Data protection qualifications to practitioner level.
  • You will have excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • We are looking for someone who takes the initiative and is skilled in maintaining relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Significant Experience in a similar role, would be advantageous.
  • The role will require an individual who is organised with strong managerial skills.

You will be working as part of a dynamic and friendly team to raise the profile of data protection and information governance by supporting services across Wales.

As senior member of the information governance team and a subject matter expert in your field you will be responsible for the overall management of key information governance services, specifically DHCW’s Data Protection Officer service for Clusters, along with providing support to the wider Data Protection Officer service for General Medical Practices (GMP’s) and Community Pharmacies. The ideal candidate must be dynamic and have a flexible approach to working, along with excellent communication and organisational skills, in order to provide a first-class service.

Day to day you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the service including:

  • Deputising for the IG Service Manager
  • Supporting the development and maintenance of the cluster service workstream
  • Managing the DPO Cluster Service and ensuring robust work plans are in place.
  • Supporting the implementation of standardised ways of working across information governance teams.  
  • Providing expert level data protection advice to all internal and external stakeholders. Meeting with and working with project / programme leads to identify and find solutions to significant IG related risks and issues.
  • Developing and approving IG support materials/policies and processes to support the delivery of work programmes. 
  • Guiding and mentoring staff to allow key risks to be identified and providing direct advice, and undertaking work, to resolve significant risks and issues.
