What You’ll Be Doing
Lead the strategy, development, and implementation of Asset Data systems to support SPEN’s RIIO-T3 and RIIO-ED3 ambitions, and the transition to a Distribution System Operator (DSO) model. This role is pivotal in enabling system interoperability, mastering asset data, and ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory expectations.
- Develop and implement an Asset Data strategy aligned with SPEN’s digital transformation goals.
- Lead the full lifecycle of asset data system developments, from business case to implementation and benefits realisation.
- Ensure solutions are embedded into business-as-usual operations and deliver measurable value.
- Manage and grow a multi-disciplinary team of Technical and Business Analysts across various levels.
- Foster a culture of agile delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary interface with IT, COE, and external service partners for asset data system developments.
- Represent SPEN in industry forums (e.g., Ofgem, BEIS, ENA) to influence data governance and open data strategies.
- Ensure all asset data developments maintain asset register integrity and comply with regulatory and licence requirements.
- Prepare and submit business cases to the Technical Design Authority (TDA) for capital approval.
- Lead the development of system architecture that supports data mastery and interoperability.
- Champion the adoption of the Common Information Model (CIM) and Data Best Practice principles.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven leadership in asset data and information systems strategy and delivery.
- Strong track record in managing large-scale system and data transformation projects.
- Deep understanding of asset data architecture, system interoperability, and regulatory frameworks.
- Advanced project and cost management skills for capital investments.
- High-level communication and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience with CIM, data governance, and electricity industry standards.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
As a Minimum, You Will Demonstrate
- Educated to degree level in Data Science, Computing, or a related discipline
- Experience working with asset data, including collection, validation, and reporting
- Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy
- Effective communicator, able to present data insights to technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficient in data tools
