Information Technology Field Engineer

Role: IT Field Engineer

Location: London (Bonhill)

Salary: £50,000 – £55,000

This role involves more than break-fix support, you’ll handle troubleshooting, routine health checks, monitoring, patching, and RMAs to keep client systems running smoothly. Based mainly in Bonhill, you’ll help maintain high service standards and deliver excellent client experiences. There is strong growth potential, with exposure to AV, collaboration technologies, and wider building and space-related systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage, resolve, and close client tickets through the service platform.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot a wide range of technical issues.
• Attend onsite visits for diagnostics and hands-on fixes.
• Respond promptly to support calls and ensure outstanding customer service.
• Collaborate with the service desk for timely ticket progression.
• Work with account managers to identify ageing or end-of-life equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance visits and document findings.
• Maintain accurate onsite equipment inventories.
• Document and photograph completed work for internal and client use.
• Use vendor updates, firmware releases, and security patches to maintain systems.
• Refer to internal documentation, past support history, and manufacturer specs.
• Engage in cross-team knowledge sharing and internal/external training.
• Log calls, assist colleagues where needed, and escalate when required.
• Visit client sites for issues that cannot be resolved remotely.

Technical Skills / Knowledge

• Experience with meeting room/collaboration systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX, Biamp, BSS).
• Understanding of audio/video processing technologies.
• Knowledge of access control, CCTV, BMS, and lighting systems.
• Solid IT networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, troubleshooting, cable testing).
• Proficient in firmware updates and diagnostics for networked AV devices.
• Ability to read and understand technical schematics.
