The Role

The Infrastructure Operations Team provides the 3rd line escalation support function as well as managing and maintaining a robust and stable experience across all infrastructure services across all Bupa Dental Care locations. Working closely with the Infrastructure Strategy and Solutions Teams (Core & EUC, Networks & Cloud), the Operations Team will support the implementation of new IT services and facilitate their bringing into service and support. They will also be responsible for the delivery of any Operational projects that have been designed by the Strategy & Solutions Teams and need deploying out across the rest of the estate.

As Infrastructure Operations Manager, you will ensure that our infrastructure operates smoothly, securely and at peak efficiency. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining existing services and keep an efficient and productive relationship with other areas of the IT Department, the Dental business and across the market unit to ensure that the Dental Infrastructure Team runs as effectively as possible, and the infrastructure services provided to the business remain robust and stable.

Responsibilities

Team Management and Leadership

• Lead and develop the 3rd line BAU team, providing guidance, training and mentorship to ensure high performance and effective troubleshooting
• Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, guiding team members to swift and effective resolutions
• Collaborate with cross-functional and wider market unit teams to ensure seamless operations across all Dental locations

Service Management and Operations

• Oversee the management and maintenance of critical infrastructure services, ensuring high availability, resilience and scalability
• Develop and monitor SLAs and KPIs, ensuring that the team meets or exceeds performance and service standards
• Work closely with the Infrastructure Strategy and Solutions Teams to transition new technologies and solutions into service with minimal disruption to end users
• Deliver new services and solutions across the Dental estate based on approved patterns and designs provided by the Infrastructure Strategy & Solutions Teams
• Maintain an accurate inventory of Bupa Dental Care assets

Risk Management and Security Compliance

• Work with the market unit security teams to enforce policies and procedures that maintain a low-risk vulnerability level across infrastructure components
• Coordinate and oversee regular security audits, penetration tests and patching processes
• Manage, maintain and routinely test Bupa Dental Care backups and DR strategies to ensure recoverability in the event of disaster
• Remediate and eliminate vulnerabilities discovered by vulnerability scanning tools and ensure no identified vulnerabilities age out of risk appetite

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within Infrastructure Operations to drive efficiency and reduce incident frequency
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, proposing and implementing upgrades or improvements to keep infrastructure up to date as part of your responsibility as a member of the Dental Infrastructure Architecture and Design forum
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure operations, including processes, configurations and best practices

Skills/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 5 years’ experience in infrastructure / engineering roles across a multi-site organisation.
• Strong understanding of network, cloud, security and core infrastructure (e.g. Cisco, Meraki, Azure, M365, Windows, Hyper-V, Veeam)
• Proficiency with tools and practices for vulnerability management, including patch management and security frameworks/policies
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills across a diverse range of stakeholders towards both tactical and strategic goals
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and make informed decisions quickly
• Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
